Forschungssoftware in der Kommunikations- und Medienwissenschaft

Stand, Herausforderungen und Perspektiven

Research software in media and communication sciences. Status quo, challenges, and future perspectives.

Abstract #

The aim of this position paper is to outline the current state of research software in communication and media studies, along with the challenges and perspectives for future developments in this area. This paper addresses various stakeholders: first, the academic society; second, research funding bodies; third, institute and university leadership; fourth, journals and publishers; and fifth, ourselves as researchers and educators. We are all called upon to collectively recognize and critically reflect on research software as an important tool for communication and media studies if we want to appropriately position the field in the digital transformation.
