Processing of political information

Abstract #

The chapter provides an overview of theories and models related to the processing of political information. It begins by outlining the key phases of information processing. This is followed by a discussion of dual-process models of information processing, focusing on the two most significant approaches: the Elaboration Likelihood Model and the Heuristic-Systematic Model. Finally, it addresses potential biases in information processing caused by heuristics and motivated reasoning. Current research questions for each approach are illustrated with selected studies.
